Schro again with Granny and Aung Berge
Well I know its been a while but one of my New Year's Resolutions is to blog more ;). This blog is about my beloved angel baby Schroeder and my parent's dog Berge (pronounced like burg-ee). They are pals. Berge thinks and treats Schroeder like he is her puppy. She has known him since he was a puppy so I guess thats where that started. He also likes to take advantage of her because she is so sweet!!! Berge is a full blood St.Bernard that my parents adopted from the Oklahoma St. Bernard Rescue about 5 years ago. She was 11 months old and had been abandoned then through a bitter divorce and the in foster care. My parents were told that she wasn't housebroken and had a chewing issue. They adopted her anyway and she has never once pottied in the house or chewed on one thing. She was obviously grateful for her last chance home :( Schroeder is my 3 year old Great Pyrenees/Blue Heeler mix. I was working at my church one day when a family from our church brought the whole litter of 10 to the church. They were left for dead by their orignal owner. I was just looking and petting them all with no intentions of getting one. I asked if there were any girls left because I was going to try to find one a home in Tulsa in my parents neighborhood. They said there were only boys left and I thought, no thank you. I thought I had held all of the puppies when I saw Schroeder asleep in one of the little boys arms. I asked if I could hold him and I never put him down. When I picked him up chills went through my body and tears filled my eyes. It was love at first sight. I knew I had to find him a home but after a month, no one was good enough. I cried every day for two weeks because I knew I couldn't let go of him. Luckily my sister Micah and cousin Nancy agreed to move out with me to get a house where I could keep him. I have obviously never regretted one minute of it because he is my very very best friend!!!! So those of you who have been on the fence about adopting a dog, I encourage you to go to a rescue center and adopt a dog that needs a second chance!!!! They are so worth it. They will make up for every bad rumor you have ever heard about half-breeds or rescue dogs!!!! They appreciate it!!! I love you Schro and Berg!
